New Character! New Design! It’s Here!

January 23, 2010 1 comment

A long journey through the artistic world of several different artists have unlocked doors to the box I was trapped in.
An explosion of different styles of art has moulded my original design and created a new character with some old characteristics, one that I can admit is almost unique to me.

My style and structure of art has also taken a turn compared to my previous work which everyone will be able to see for themselves.
There is nothing more I can say except to present you with the new illustration:

Re-designs and Changes

January 20, 2010 1 comment

I have decided to re-design the main style of my characters to make them more unique maybe in some sort of way, mainly because I am still not too happy with the way they look. I will preserve some features of the character, keeping a balance between previous design with the new design.

I have to admit I did spend a lot of time on those sketches from 1st January 2010 and having to now leave them behind do make me feel sad. Maybe people liked them, or maybe they don’t.
Hoping to make this new design bigger and better so theres no time for crying!
Working hard on the new design already and it’s only been less than twelve hours ago when I decided. Fresh new raw sketches will be posted here so watch this space!

Another change will apply to the weekly sketches! I will be producing between three to four sketches per week, considering drawing a different idea really quickly everyday did feel like taking a sledge hammer to the head! There is also loss of quality in the sketches because of the rush, therefore spending more time on it will produce better results.

There are still some old sketches to be posted which I will do sometime during this week.
Finally Lowlabs.com will also transform due to this re-design process, so keep check back on the website too.

Acrylic’s, Canvases and … The Future…

Now that Christmas is over I shall briefly talk about how much I loved all the kick ass Joe Ledbetter Christmas presents that I received and the display cabinet for all my vinyl toys to be kept safe from dust, scratches and falling objects that is in my room!

The SALES after Christmas has motivated me to buy some acrylic paint… maybe a bit more than some and a canvas to start working on. It seem’s like after all these years of existing as a pencil artist or rather should I say a pen artist, who never ever painted has fallen in love with painting all of a sudden. Discovering how well each type of paint brush worked with the canvas felt like learning to walk all over again.

I believe I already know what my new years resolution is; More painting, more drawing, more illustrations, update website more, possibly more blog posts and of course apply for more jobs. That does sound like a large amount of work but I be willing to do, if it get’s me somewhere. I am still wondering how my prints are doing in the Frameworks Gallery in Belfast? If you know anything? Let me know 🙂

New Prints Available At Frameworks!

December 9, 2009 Leave a comment

It is time to announce that there are four selected prints available! After spending six days of searching for printer places and the right texture of paper to print my work, I can say that my prints will be available for display.

I had come across many problems, they range from printer needs fixed, the selected textured sheets are too thick for the printer, there are too many customers in our shop to print your stuff, and many other problems. It was a rather stressful process which was not what I expected, so if theres anyone out there who can recommend a good printing company without all the following stated problems then be sure to leave me a comment on this post or email me at fallen1502@hotmail[dot]com.

The prints will be available at The Frameworks on the Lower Ormeau Road from possibly Wednesday 9th December and if not then it will be Thursday 10th December, so if you are  interested please drop by and check it out.

This is my first time displaying and selling prints… meaning any little support in any form or any way would put a smile on my face and keep my art alive! Even drop me a message on any of my social networking site things… such as Twitter or Facebook if you are into modern technology and for those who like to do thing the good old fashion way then write me a letter and post it to me, it would be much appreciated.

Illustration Meltdown!

November 22, 2009 1 comment

Working on a recent illustrati0n which feels like it’s been taking forever to finish. What is the problem? It’s not one of the those illustrations that allows me to constantly have idea’s popping into my head while I am working on it.
It just feels like I’m not psyched enough to complete this illustration so I’ll work on it slightly then leave it for a while and come back to work on it just a little more. Who could blame me though? This illustration isn’t normal, it’s not sane!

This would all probably make a lot more sense when you actually see the image because right now you probably think im crazy. It is 2:23am and I’m working on it now to try it complete, so stay tuned and it should arrive on the interweb net thing sometime real soon.
For now be afraid, be afraid, be very afraid!

Motion City Soundtrack’s New Record!!!

November 15, 2009 Leave a comment

I am back! I have just realised that it’s been over a month since my last post so I decided to drop by and mention a few things.
First of all I have to tell everyone how excited I am about Motion City Soundtracks new album titled “My Dinosaur Life” which is due to release on January 19th 2010!
Secondly my most inspirational artist Joe Ledbetter is designing all of the album art, what more can I ask for!!!

MSC Album Art

Pre-ordering became available earlier from the motion city store and a Deluxe Edition was available for those hardcore motion city fans at a price of 60 bucks.

Deluxe Edition includes:
Hardbound 9×9 custom book to hold the below contents
-Six double sided 7″ picture discs featuring custom Joe Ledbetter artwork for each track
-Signed Pulp Fiction style lyric book
-Full length 12 track CD
-Exclusive bonus CD (Features 5 alt/acoustic versions – including 1 unreleased track)

In my opinion that 70% of me wanted the Deluxe Edition for the Joe Ledbetter artwork so off course I went through the process of trying to pre-order it, except to be greeted with “Offer is for United States customers only” which I got pretty annoyed!
The anger finally came to an end later on when motion city tweeted saying “The availability of the deluxe edition of My Dinosaur Life internationally will be known soon.” hopefully this is good news that all the other fans that don’t live in the United States will get the chance to get their hands on the Deluxe Edition.

Vancouver Here We Come!

July 7, 2009 Leave a comment

Hello everyone, this is a daily round-up of this trip so far.
The first plane flight was 8hours from Belfast to New York wasn’t exactly pleasant. When finally arriving at Times Square it was a fight through the street with massive suitcase’s and massive crowd’s to find the hotel which ended up being directly in the center of Time Square, it was a great hotel with a view to die for.

The next morning it was breakfast in Planet Hollywood which was interesting, then it was the airport once again to suffer from being in a cramped seat for a long period of time, meaning 3.5hours flight from New York to Houston and then straight after that a 4.5hour flight from Houston to Vancouver with 35 minutes delay, so after all that we manage to check in at the hotel by 2am and straight to bed it was.

More update on the trip soon when the trip reaches all corners of Vancouver and photo’s to follow.

New Lowlabs.com Available!!!

June 20, 2009 1 comment

The wait is over! The new and improved Lowlabs.com is completed or at least 99.9% complete.  Improvement’s include full graphic re-design, illustration’s uploaded into portfolio section… em… see what else is different for yourself, I admit i’ve being lazy and only managed to put up two finished illustration’s, but there’s one more completed illustration that will be uploaded later this week.

There will be other categorie’s added into the portfolio section later on some time, including photoshop image’s and some old drawing/sketches.

I am watching Friday Night with Jonathan Ross while I’m writing this post and considering it’s 4am so the ETA of the site being online should be around 1400-1500.

The Battle With Ps/Ai/Fl For A Completely New Website!!!

June 16, 2009 Leave a comment

This is a late post about the topic as the new website is already in production and will soon be available.  There will be a complete change in the layout of the webpage to make it (hopefully) look more professional in a way, I noticed the first site seemed pretty plain flat if that’s the word to describe it… but the new site will contain more depth with the graphic’s.

I know the last site don’t have an updated portfolio section since i’ve been tired lazy 🙂 but you’ll be glad to know that the portfolio page on the new site will have some completed illustration’s for you to view and I will try and work hard to get more work done for uploading onto my portfolio.

I was thinking of a section for my old-ish sketches and drawings but not sure if it’s a good idea or if they’re even good enough to be placed there, maybe for those who read this blog should leave me a comment about this idea? I will be happy to hear some bad feedbacks suggestions.

Those who still havn’t managed to catch a glimpse of the old website & is interested then head on over to www.lowlabs.com to view it before it goes down, also for those who havn’t noticed the glitch on the intro page should have a look again to see if you notice the problem & maybe leave me a comment on it as well 😉  I shall post again when the new site is up & running.
